Top Ten best Geocaches in the UK!

I’m always looking out for interesting geocaches so I thought I’d highlight the top ten most favourited geocaches in the UK at the moment. These are classed as the best geocaches as voted for by the cacher’s who find them.

Do they make your list? Have you found any of them? We’ve only found four of the top ten so far…time to up our game I think!

Number 10

Jacob’s MOVING Cache #1 – GCA87Cย – by JacobBarlow [Archived: 09/03/15]

Difficulty 2.5 – Terrain 5

Cache Type: Unknown (Puzzle/Mystery)

Location: ‘On the move!’

Cache Birthday: 01/11/2002

Current number of favourites: 373

A very tricky one to find, hence the high terrain rating. Originally the cache was left by ‘JacobBarlow’ before being moved on by the Ghost Town Posse!

This cache moves around with the finder before being placed somewhere new with a fresh set of coordinates. Check out the cache page for the full set of rules!

As I was putting this post together I had a quick look at where the cache was…I couldn’t believe my luck when it turned out to have recently been placed fairly near to where I live…so, today I made a mad dash out to go and find it!!

As I write this post I’m currently looking at this rare, and pretty cool cache, and deciding where to place it tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚

Watch this space!!

Number 9

Paddington Dare (W London) – GC3B88 – by Chris and Mariaย

Difficulty 1 – Terrain 1

Cache Type: Virtual

Location: London (Inside Paddington train station)

Cache Birthday: 19/12/2002

Current number of favourites: 380

If you know anything about Paddington you’ll know exactly what the clue to the reference on the cache page means. If not then it’s time to do a little research ๐Ÿ˜‰

You’ll only be able to log this cache once you’ve found a certain item within Paddington train station. Good luck!

Number 8

16th Century Pub (Central London) – GC4E4B – by The Wombles

Difficulty 2 – Terrain 1

Cache Type: Virtual

Location: London (Central)

Cache Birthday: 17/04/2002

Current number of favourites: 385

Located at the second oldest pub in London, built in 1546 (according to the cache page), this cache is a great one to visit if you’d like to incorporate a bit of a Geo-bar-crawl into the caching equation. Why not try London’s 10 oldest pubs bar crawl…for something to spice up your caching adventure?

Number 7

Ye Ole Survey Monuments – GC45CC – by outforthehunt

Difficulty 1.5 – Terrain 2

Cache Type: Virtual

Location: ‘On the move!’

Cache Birthday: 13/04/2002

Current number of favourites: 435

Another moving cache, this one is slightly different in that it requires you to find some information which could be at either a specific survey monument, pillar, surface block, rivet or bolt.

We were lucky to find this cache at the Kent Mega Eventย up at Holly Hill at a Trigpoint ๐Ÿ™‚

Number 6

Stonehenge – GCA68Dย – by Northern Trekker

Difficulty 1 – Terrain 1

Cache Type: Virtual

Location:ย Near Amesbury, Wiltshire

Cache Birthday: 29/10/2002

Current number of favourites: 465

To claim this one as a find you’ll need to post a picture of yourself, holding your GPS, with the stones in the background ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s a great place to go, regretfully I wasn’t caching last time I went. ๐Ÿ™ I was working on a college film though and it was a fantastic experience. Definitely add this one to your bucket list!

Head to page two to find out what the best geocache in the UK is!
