Our Travel Bug’s and Geocoin’s

Journey’s made by our Travel Bug’s (TB’s) and Geocoin’s…

We love moving TB’s around and now that we’ve got a few of our own I thought it might be nice to share their adventures with you too. 🙂 It’s great to see a map of where a TB has been and how many miles it’s travelled, so here are ours!

Black Church Micro Geocoin No. 33

Church Micro Series TB

Church Micro Series TB

There’s actually a little bit of a story attached to this special TB. Most UK Geocacher’s know about the Church Micro(CM) series, arranged by one of the UK’s most prolific cacher’s Sadexploration. There are thousands of these specific CM caches dotted all around the country and it can be quite addictive trying to keep up with them…so far I’ve only found around 60 and I think there are at least 3/4,000 out there but I’m totally hooked on them so I’m hoping I’ll reach 100 soon!

There is a great mini series of CM’s in Surrey a stones throw away from where we live and one morning on a dash out to grab a FTF(First to find) for one of the new local caches we bumped into a lovely couple and swapped stories about caches in the area. They highlighted this particular series and I thought I’d give it a go. I won’t go into much detail other than to say it’s had THE best caches on it that I’ve done to date. The creativity on the containers is absolutely amazing and the final is located in the CO’s garden!

Please do check out the series if you’re ever in the area, even if you can only do one of them I can promise that you won’t regret it! As a reward for completing the series I picked up one of the TB’s inside the final cache which had been hand-made by the CO (See picture above) and activated it to be sent out into the world. See the picture below for a route of its travels so far!

This awesome Geocoin came into my possession after a competition set by Geocaching vlogger GeoPaul I was really surprised to have won it given the amount of people who entered but I was pretty happy to get my mitts on it! It’s a lovely coin, and very heavy! There’s no way I can let this one go out into the wild. It’s going to travel with me until the next Mega Event and then I’ll decide what to do with it 🙂

As the name suggests I met Signal at the Kent Mega Event in 2015 and he gave me this TB which I’ve decided to keep until find something nice enough to attach it to and then I’ll send it on its way into the world!

Kent Mega 2014 TB

Kent Mega 2014 TB

We wanted to remember our first ever Mega Event by picking up a nice memento of the occasion, and we really liked this little TB, a very nice design of an oast house that we became very familiar with as we went around Kent over that weekend in May. For more information about our trials and tribulations at the Kent Mega Event check out my earlier blog post! Our plan for this TB is to keep it with us until we attend our next Mega Event to see how far it’s (we’ve) travelled in that time.

Well, our TB traveled 3472.2 miles since attending the Kent Mega Event. I retired it briefly after we reached the Halloween Mega Event, however I managed to find a very apt cache to place it in, which comes in at number 10 on the most favourited geocaches list. Check it out for yourself, it’s a D2.5/T5 cache with a difference!

*Update 29/04/15* Well, after leaving it in that special place…aka Jacob’s Moving Cache it was subsequently archived so now we’ve got it back in our possession and on the road! It’s too nice to let go so we’ll just be taking this one with us on our travels from now on!

As a kid I loved reading the Mr. Men and Little Miss stories and so when I saw this keyring I couldn’t resist putting it on a TB and sending it off on an adventure! We dropped him off on holiday on the Isle of Wight and now he’s off having a great time in Europe he even managed to find his way to the Mega Riga Event earlier this year!

Christmas this year brought about quite a few frog related presents (everyone’s come to terms with my obsession for frogs and they are all actively encouraging me with it!) and one in particular ended up creeping into my Geocaching obsession too. And so, a very cute little frog which married up perfectly with an unactivated dog tag, both of which were presents brought by MrBizkitz, named Mr Frogglesworth has been sent away into the world with dreams of crossing the ‘big pond’! Who knows where he’ll end up, we left him up in Eyam in Derbyshire in a cache called JUMBER LUMBER which doesn’t get visited too often which is a shame as it’s a lovely spot!

Another one in our ‘Watchover Voodoo Dolls’ series, we’ve set this TB off with the aim of visiting quiet woodland walks and haunted villages and towns…let’s see what mischief he gets up to! We dropped him off on holiday in Norway and he’s already made it back to the UK. Perhaps he’s coming back to haunt us??

It’d been a while since we’d actually braved letting go of a TB so during our holiday in Pembrokeshire we decided that it was high time we set another one off into the wild. It’s making good progress so far and we’re hoping one day it’ll end up in New Zealand. Fingers crossed!

PirateMania 7 TB – aka (Rusty McBludgeon)

Pirate Mania Travel Bug

PirateMania TB

Along with our Kent Mega 2014 TB this one was bought for me by my brother up at the event too. Our plan for this one is to take it along with us until we travel overseas again and then we’ll attach something to the keyring and send it on a new adventure!

*Update: 6/11/14* Our plan had been to drop this one off when we were overseas but unfortunately we never found a cache big enough on our last trip and so I’ve now added it to Jacob’s Moving Cache so that other people can discover it!

Since the Kent Mega Event the TB has travelled to some great places with us including the Halloween Mega Event but leaving it in Jacob’s Moving Cache felt like an apt place, it being a pirate and all g’arrrr!

*Update 29/04/15* As Jacob’s Moving Cache (aka Utah MOVING Cache #1) was archived I got this TB back on the road. It’s now back in our possession until we travel overseas again!

*Update 01/10/16* Well, we’ve renamed this one Rusty McBludgeon and sent him on his way again. He’s currently over in Kent, maybe we’ll pay him a visit?!

Leaving our first TB in Finland!

We left our very first TB in Finland on a snowboarding holiday in Ruka. It made great progress to Southern Finland where it was taken to Thailand for a nice holiday before ending up in Germany where it seems to be stuck at the moment. Hopefully it will get moving again at some point in the near future as it was a present from my Uncle!

Seeing as we were heading off to a new county, Shropshire, for our holiday we thought we should take a TB with us to send off on it’s way, and as my Mum was paying for the holiday cottage we bought her one too so that they could race each other! Ours is called Signor Verde and hers is called Signorina Rosa.

Me and Mum decided that we wanted to set a couple of TB’s off in a race against each other so I bought a Watchover VooDoo Child keyring called ‘Super Sensational Son‘ and my Mum bought one called ‘Always Be Lucky‘. Their aim is to get to California to visit some friends we have over there. I wonder if either of them will make it?
